AMOS CHAN

PROFILE
Amos Chan began his photography career in 1972. He graduated from the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts and Tufts University with a BFA/BS; a combined degree. After teaching photography for three years at the Boston Museum School, Amos moved on to get his MFA at Yale University. While attending Yale, he was chosen to work on the estate of Walker Evans; under the guidance of John T. Hill, the photography department chairman. Amos printed much of the material for Walker Evan’s books. As a graduate student, Amos was inspired to shoot many fine art images of his own. A variety of these images are with private collectors and several museums.

Amos Chan moved to New York City in 1981 and decided to pursue a career as a commercial photographer. Although he has achieved a high level of success in the competitive New York market of commercial photography; he has never stopped shooting his own personal work. He has amassed over one million negatives, shooting landscapes, still life, architecture and people.
Amos Chan’s inventiveness, artistry, visual versatility, and ability to work with all format cameras, makes him one of the top commercial photographers in New York today.
